Marta Studios

Hi, my name is Sharon, I am the owner and graphic artist for Marta Studios. I have recently stopped taking freelance work due to my growing family and becoming more of a full time stay at home mom. I hope to continue with my art in some capacity, through paintings, drawings and graphics. You’ll see whatever evolves from my brain on this blog. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or need an opinion on design work. I’m happy to help where I can. Thanks!

A little bit about the wonder and magic behind Marta Studios:

I graduated with a bachelors in fine art from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2000. I started working for a Christian marketing company called Outreach Inc., and worked my way up to Senior graphic designer. For 6 years, I worked in all areas of design including direct mail postcards, doorhangers, bulletins, brochures, magazine advertisements, catalogs, promotional mailers, billboards, banners and even web design. Through Outreach, I was able to work with such company’s as Icon Productions’ for the movie “The Passion of the Christ,” Disney and Walden Media for the movie “The Chronicles of Narnia,” and New Line Cinema for “The Nativity Story.” Marta Studios grew out of my freelance work on the side and now I am able to do it for a living and I love it.

My obsessions and Influences:

Macs, facebook, Lost (I have to find a new obsession), Typography (Don’t ever use Comic Sans or Papyrus, EVER) Adobe everything, Flickr, The Office, How Magazine, Luba Lukova, Margo Chase, David Carson, Rothko, Van Gogh, Picasso, and Manet (not to be mistaken with Monet, but I like his stuff too)

Personal:

My husband is a PGA golf teacher who loves indie music, photography, surfing and fiddling with video editing. We have an adorable little boy and precious little girl who bring us more joy than we could have ever imagined.
