I’m a huge fan of Puffins. Their all natural and healthy ingredients plus great taste make it a favorite in our house. The peanut butter Puffins are almost as good as a dessert. So, when I purchased our box this week, I noticed they are announcing a redesign of their classic box.

My first thought was disappointment, because I’ve always liked the design of the Puffins packaging. I remember studying the layout when I first saw it because it seemed cooler than most cereal boxes. I love the rays around the Puffin and deep blue gradients. The gold banner really pops against the blue to help easily showcase the different flavors of Puffins.

What I don’t like is they redesigned their logo and enlarged it quite a bit, so Barbara’s is larger than “Puffins.” Personally I don’t mind the redesign of the Barbara’s logo, but I would want to see the name of the product BEFORE I see the name of the company. They’ve lessened the importance of the name of the product and the flavor and enhanced the name of the company. If you think of other cereal companies like General Mills, their company name is quite smaller than the name of the cereal.

I’m also not digging on the tan color overall. I understand with the new design they are hoping it will look more “natural.” But, with so many products these days going natural, is everything going to be TAN COLOR?? Puffins have always been all natural ingredients, so they haven’t changed the cereal, just the design on the box to portray it being more natural. I say if people are concerned about all natural ingredients, they will actually read the ingredients, as I do, and don’t need their products to all be tan.

That’s my two bits, what do you think?

I had the pleasure of helping my good friend Mary with her website for her business. We decided to use a Wordpress site so she and her daughter could easily maintain it on their own. This template has a great slider for the homepage, feature content on the homepage and a nice portfolio with easy navigation. Check out her website here.

I have three Easter packs available for download over at Worship House Media. Two are my previous designs from last year, and one brand new one for this year called Easter Peace. Only $7 for two slides in each pack. Let me know what you think. Give me some ideas to think about doing for next year!

I had so much fun working on this WordPress site for Benten Salon. I’ve always wanted to design for a beauty salon. There is such style and beauty in that industry. Kyoko Mori has a beautiful salon located in gorgeous Solana Beach, along with an incredibly talented staff. She did an excellent job of starting her business off on the right foot by hiring a marketing company to design and brand her logo, website and brochure. She also hired a professional photographer to take all the beautiful photos you see on the site. If you are a local to the San Diego area, go check them out.

rdr_christmas09_6What a busy month it has been. I can’t even begin to list all the wonderful sites I have come across for baking, crafting and designs. Not to mention all the new church designs and videos that are out this year.

This was our final design for our Christmas theme this year. Our pastor had a vision for old Bethlehem, yet with nice Christmasy colors. So far, we have had good reviews on the design. I was also able to come up with some other Christmas designs that made it to the Worship House store if you’re interested in seeing them.

Do you have a cool Christmas card for your church this year? Or have you seen one that you love. Post it here, I’d love to see what’s out there.
